TAINAN — Organized by Informa Markets Taiwan, Asia Agri-Tech Expo & Forum officially opened today (May 6) at the ICC Tainan. Celebrating its 10th anniversary, this year’s event brings together the agriculture, livestock, and aquaculture sectors, integrating technology showcases with professional forums to present the latest innovations and sustainable development trends across the Asia-Pacific agricultural industry.
Held concurrently with Taiwan Livestock and Taiwan Aquaculture, the exhibition creates a one-stop sourcing and networking platform. It has attracted professional buyers from Taiwan and overseas, fostering cross-sector collaboration and unlocking new business opportunities.
Amid climate change, disease risks, and ongoing supply chain restructuring, the agricultural sector is accelerating its shift toward smarter and more resilient development. Taiwan has continued to make significant progress in animal disease prevention and the advancement of smart agriculture, and has successfully regained its African swine fever-free status, further strengthening confidence in international markets.
At the same time, the government is actively promoting the modernization and sustainable transformation of the livestock industry. Through initiatives such as livestock facility upgrades, wastewater resource recycling, and biogas reuse, these efforts are driving industry advancement and gradually building a modern livestock system that is efficient, resilient, and environmentally sustainable.
This year’s exhibition is organized with resources coordinated by the Fisheries Research Institute under the Ministry of Agriculture and agricultural innovation incubation centers. It focuses on three core themes: net-zero transition, resource circularity, and smart technologies, aiming to accelerate the commercialization and industrial application of cross-disciplinary research outcomes.
Through a dedicated technology matchmaking mechanism, the initiative helps enterprises reduce R&D risks and speed up their green transformation. Key applications include the development of carbon credit frameworks, carbon footprint assessment, valorization of agricultural by-products, as well as the integration of AI-based early warning systems and resilience management tools. These efforts further enhance the competitiveness of enterprises within the global sustainability agenda and international supply chains.
A key highlight of this year’s exhibition is the first-ever presentation by the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) of its research on “Enhancing Biosecurity and Modern Cold Chain Systems to Build a Resilient Modern Swine Production System.” The achievement responds to the industry’s growing demand for improved disease prevention and quality upgrading, marking an important milestone in the transformation of Taiwan’s swine industry.
In parallel, the Livestock Research Institute under the Ministry of Agriculture showcases a range of research outcomes covering smart livestock management, genetic selection, resource circularity, and animal health applications. Through the integration of sensor-based monitoring, data analytics, and biotechnology, these innovations drive a comprehensive upgrade across the livestock value chain—from production to application—enhancing efficiency, resilience, and product quality.
National Chung Hsing University Industry–Academia Innovation Pavilion showcases a number of forward-looking agricultural technologies, making it one of the highlights of this year’s exhibition. These include the “pesticide-free AIoT fumigation system,” developed with key funding support from the National Science and Technology Council and the Ministry of Economic Affairs, as well as membrane-based energy-saving water purification technology, plant virus detection reagents and pathogen identification services, patented probiotics to increase egg production, a drone- and smart recognition-based ant pest control solution, natural rooting agents and biostimulants, and microalgae-based carbon sequestration cycle technology. These exhibits comprehensively demonstrate the integration of industry, academia, and research, in line with the exhibition’s focus on smart, low-carbon, and high-efficiency agricultural development. In addition, leading enterprises are presenting innovative solutions across the livestock sector.
DaChan Greatwall Group promotes a precision “3R nutrition strategy,” while Alltech advances gut health applications through a combination of peptides, probiotics, and acidifiers. Meanwhile, Taiwan Vaccine Corporation introduces a localized vaccine for Infectious Bronchitis Virus (IBV) targeting Taiwan strains.
From scientific research to industrial application, and from precision nutrition to disease prevention, these innovations collectively address the growing demand for improved animal health and production efficiency. They also highlight the latest trends driving the livestock industry toward higher efficiency and sustainable development.
During the exhibition period, a total of 45 professional forums will be held, bringing together experts from government, industry, and academia from Taiwan and abroad. The discussions will focus on key topics including:
- Biosecurity and disease prevention
• Livestock resilience under extreme climate conditions
• Antibiotic-free production and gut health
• Precision nutrition and feed efficiency
• Smart agriculture and automation applications
Spanning policy, technology, and practical implementation, the forums aim to help industry stakeholders quickly access actionable strategies and solutions.
The exhibition continues to be held in Tainan, closely connecting with Southern Taiwan’s agricultural and aquaculture clusters. This proximity to key production bases enables technology showcases to be more closely aligned with real-world applications, while also enhancing the quality of engagement and matchmaking efficiency for professional buyers.
Entering its 10th edition, Asia Agri-Tech Expo continues to focus on the core themes of Innovation Technology, Green Sustainability, and Resilient Connections, integrating the upstream and downstream segments of the agricultural value chain.
Looking ahead, the exhibition will further deepen international collaboration and market expansion, with the goal of becoming the most influential agricultural technology exchange platform in the Asia-Pacific region.
